The Plushbeds Botanical Bliss boasts a luxuriously knit cover made from 100% organic cotton. Just below the cotton cover, this mattress also has around ten pounds of 100% natural New Zealand wool in a 1-inch thick layer.
These two materials give this mattress its initial comfortable and supportive feel. Cotton and wool also do a great job of regulating body temperature. When it’s hot, the cotton cover is good at wicking away moisture. On the other hand, wool helps you stay cool when it’s hot and also retains warmth in winter.
Comfort layer
All the three thickness options of the Botanical Bliss mattress consist of 100% natural latex layers. The 9” and 12” beds have two latex layers (2” and 3”) for their comfort zone. The 10” bed also has two latex layers but both of these measure 3”.
Now, the variation in firmness levels between the Medium and Medium-Firm mattresses is as a result of the differences in the actual Indentation Load Deflections (ILD) of the specific layers of latex in each bed.
So that you understand, ILD is a measure of latex firmness. It classifies individual latex layers on a scale of 12 to 50, where 12 is very soft, and 50 is very firm.
For the medium mattress, the top layer of the comfort system has an ILD of 20, while the second layer has a rating of 23.
On the other hand, the first and second layers of the medium-firm mattress have an ILD reading of 25 and 30, respectively.
As these figures above show, the medium-firm mattress is slightly firmer than the medium bed.
Support layer
For the medium setting, the 9” and 10” mattresses have a 3-inch support layer with an ILD rating of around 25. The 12” thick option, however, uses two 3” layers for its support zone one with an ILD of approximately 25 and the other one with a rating of 30.
Switching gear to the medium firm mattress, the 9” and 10” beds have a 3” support layer with an average ILD reading of 35. The 12” thick mattress has two layers of latex for its support. The first has an average ILD of 30 while that of the second layer is about 35.
What is the height of the Plushbeds mattress?
As mentioned earlier in this Plushbeds mattress review, the Botanical Bliss comes in three thickness options; 9”, 10”, and 12”. Generally, our mattress review experts recommend the 9” bed for lightweight individuals weighing 220 lbs and below. Folks between 220 lbs and 275 lbs should do just fine with the 10” bed. For heavier people above 275 lbs, the 12” mattress will meet your sleep needs much better.

How Firm does the Botanical Bliss mattress feel?
The Botanical Bliss mattress comes in two firmness settings: medium, which has a firmness level of 5.5 and medium-firm, which falls at 6.5.
As these ratings indicate, the medium mattress is slightly on the soft side compared to the medium-firm bed. Laying on this model, you’ll find it as plushy as memory foam bed at the same setting would feel. The only difference, however, is that latex has a degree of responsiveness that comes in in the form of support to make you feel like you are floating. So, you won’t be sleeping IN the mattress. Plushbeds Mattress vs. Your Weight and Sleeping Position
Light sleepers- less than 130 lbs
Lightweight sleepers tend to enjoy the medium setting the most compared to the medium-firm option. This is because, at this weight range, they can push through the comfort layers for a good cradle that is necessary for pressure relief.

- Mattress transfers movement – This mattress’s springiness comes at the compromise of motion isolation. So, compared to a memory foam mattress, you’ll hear your partner getting into or leaving the bed if you are a sensitive sleeper.
